Ballard Spahr has made leadership changes in its largest department, litigation, and one of its best-known nationally, public finance. Firm Chair Mark S. Stewart announced that John B. Langel, who led Ballard Spahr's labor and employment practice for 35 years, is the new Chair of the Litigation Group. He succeeds William A. Slaughter, who will continue to serve as general counsel to the firm as well as maintain his litigation practice.

William C. Rhodes was named Chair of Ballard Spahr’s Public Finance Department, which has more than 50 lawyers across the country. He succeeds Utah-based partner Blake K. Wade, who becomes Managing Partner of the firm’s Salt Lake City office.

"We had terrific department chairs and I just thought it was time to give some new people a chance at positions, and I talked to a lot of partners about it and selected those people I thought the partners would get behind," Mr. Stewart said.
