The Hershey Trust Company has hired Ballard Spahr partner John Estey as interim General Counsel, replacing GC Mary Louise Porter, who reportedly was either fired or resigned under pressure. The trust, which manages a $7.5 billion charity and holds close to 80 percent of the voting stock in the Hershey Company, is currently being investigated by the Pennsylvania state attorney general's office. Mr. Estey will lead negotiations with the AG’s office over reforming ways in which the charity conducts business; recently, the trust has been under fire for making questionable financial decisions.
