Franchising has become increasingly popular in the United States, but that has also led to more lawsuits. The most frequent disagreements are over the allocation and distribution of products, adding or relocating franchises, and product supply. Still, said Kim McCullough, the practice leader of Ballard Spahr's Franchise and Distribution Group, Denver remains a "hotbed of franchising."

Ms. McCullough credits Denver's central location, entrepreneurial spirit, and desirable weather with making franchising so popular in the Mile High State. "Talented franchise middle management from out of state have been recruited to Denver and they don't want to leave," Ms. McCullough said. "As a result, there is a pool of talented franchise management locally looking for new opportunities."
