Joseph Kanefield, longtime general counsel to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, will leave the Governor’s Office on May 13. Mr. Kanefield, President-elect of the State Bar of Arizona, will join the Phoenix office of Ballard Spahr, where he will focus on government relations, civil and appellate litigation, public-private partnerships, administrative law, state and local tax matters, gaming, and election and campaign finance law.

“Having got her through the election and the [legislative] session, I think she’s in good shape,” Mr. Kanefield said of the Governor. He added that this “seemed like a natural transition point. … “I am sad to leave her, but excited about the new venture,” Mr. Kanefield said.
