While promoting his health care reform legislation, President Obama told workers they would be able to keep their health benefits if they liked them. That message comes with a big caveat, according to Brian M. Pinheiro, chair of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group at Ballard Spahr. "Your employer may decide as a financial matter that it's not worth having a health plan anymore," Mr. Pinheiro told WHYY's Taunya English. Mr. Pinheiro said the penalties for not offering coverage might be lower than the increased cost of offering benefits, causing some employers to stop providing coverage.
