John B. Langel doesn't like being called an agent, Business Journal reporter Jeff Blumenthal writes. Instead, Langel would prefer to be known for his day job practicing law at Ballard Spahr, where he heads the firm's Labor and Employment practice. Mr. Langel, who recently represented new Philadelphia 76ers coach Doug Collins, represents athletes, coaches, and broadcasters in addition to his long list of corporate clients. And he'd like to keep it that way. "First of all, they (sports figures) get fired, traded, or cut, and that pains me a great deal," Mr. Langel says. "Second, there’s more variety in representing companies and dealing with unions and plaintiffs lawyers."
