The University City Science Center filed a Common Pleas Court lawsuit to block the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority's effort to seize undeveloped parcels of land. The complaint states that the RDA's attempt to take and sell the land is not consistent with the city's Urban Renewal Plan and could cause immediate and irreparable harm. Michael Sklaroff, chair of Ballard Spahr's Real Estate Department, represents the center. He tells the Inquirer that the center has been trying for two years to work with the RDA. "Unfortunately, we will now have to resolve through the courts what we had sincerely hoped to accomplish by mutual agreement," Mr. Sklaroff says.
