A recent study has indicated that voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) will make telecommunications the fastest-growing industry of the decade. One factor that gives VoIP providers reason to cheer is the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which encourages the expansion of broadband access to rural and underserved areas. Jerold G. Oldroyd, chair of the communications group at Ballard Spahr, tells UtahCEO magazeine that "(VoIP)'s are a lot more efficient and a lot less expensive than to have the apparatus to support wireline telecom.
