The SEC has established five new specialized task forces in order to track and act against securities frauds. Philadelphia is home to two of the units, significantly raising the profile of the office's relatively small enforcement arm. Justin P. Klein, former SEC lawyer and head of Ballard Spahr's Securities Group, tells The Philadelphia Inquirer that the branch's increased role is "a compliment to the Philadelphia office. They're straight shooters, and they're taking this new responsibility very seriously." His colleague M. Norman Goldberger notes the potential impact on securities investigation. "We expect to see a lot of very strict scrutiny, and we expect them to be bringing a lot more cases."
