Jason A. Leckerman is a partner in the Litigation Department and a member of the Product Liability and Mass Tort, Antitrust, Commercial Litigation, E-Discovery and Data Management, and Consumer Class Action Litigation Groups. Mr. Leckerman focuses his practice on antitrust, pharmaceutical, and consumer fraud litigation and regularly counsels clients on antitrust compliance and risk. In addition, he regularly assists private and public companies in obtaining clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.

At Ballard Spahr, Mr. Leckerman serves on the Philadelphia Hiring Committee.

Representative Matters  

  • Defended a pharmaceutical manufacturer in multiple, related antitrust litigations in Pennsylvania federal court
  • Represents a plaintiff manufacturer in an antitrust claim in Delaware federal court
  • Defended a pharmaceutical manufacturer in a private product liability arbitration
  • Represents a pharmaceutical manufacturer in an investigation into marketing and promotional practices
  • Defends title insurance companies from consumer class actions in Pennsylvania state and federal court

Pro Bono Experience

Mr. Leckerman maintains an active pro bono practice. He has represented clients in, among other areas, asylum proceedings, civil forfeiture cases, and Social Security disability claims. Mr. Leckerman also participated in advising the committee responsible for creating the Ethics Commission of the City of Philadelphia. In addition, he has assisted the American Bar Association with an amicus brief, participated in Ballard Spahr's clinic at the Sunday Breakfast Association, and assisted in the MLK Day legal clinics at Germantown and Martin Luther King Jr. High Schools.

Recipient, The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly's 2010 "Lawyers on the Fast Track" award, given to select young Pennsylvania lawyers whose achievements have distinguished them among their peers

Recipient, Ballard Spahr's inaugural Alan J. Davis Award in 2008, for his success in helping a deaf woman from Guinea obtain asylum
