Jason A. Leckerman focuses on antitrust, product liability, and commercial litigation and regularly counsels clients on antitrust compliance and risk. In addition, he assists private and public companies in analyzing potential mergers and acquisitions, and in obtaining clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.

At Ballard Spahr, Mr. Leckerman is Partner-in-charge of the Philadelphia Hiring Committee, Partner-in-charge of the litigation mentoring program, and is Partner-in-charge of the United Way Campaign.

Representative Matters

Competition and Commercial Matters

  • Represented a plaintiff health care data company in a monopolization case in Pennsylvania federal court
  • Represented a plaintiff pharmaceutical manufacturer in a Lanham Act (unfair competition) claim in Pennsylvania federal court
  • Represented a plaintiff chemical manufacturer, which opted out of a proposed class action, in an antitrust claim in Delaware federal court
  • Defends a pharmaceutical manufacturer in antitrust class actions in Pennsylvania federal court involving allegations of monopolization related to patent litigations, a citizen petition filed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and alleged reverse payment settlement agreement
  • Defends shipping companies in antitrust class actions in New Jersey federal court involving allegations of price-fixing
  • Defends an importer of pipe fittings in antitrust class actions in New Jersey federal court involving allegations of price-fixing
  • Defends a pharmaceutical manufacturer in the Nevada federal court against price discrimination claims
  • Defended a pharmaceutical manufacturer in antitrust class actions in Pennsylvania federal court involving allegations of monopolization related to multiple citizen petitions filed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
  • Defended a title insurance company in class actions in Pennsylvania state court
  • Defended a media company in Colorado state court against antitrust claims
  • Counsels a trade association of energy utilities on antitrust issues
  • Counseled a hydro-electric power company on antitrust issues involving its joint venture ownership structure

Product Liability Matters

  • Represents a chemical manufacturer in numerous product, toxic tort, and premises liability claims in Pennsylvania state court
  • Represents a chemical manufacturer in personal injury case
  • Defended a pharmaceutical manufacturer in a private product liability arbitration
  • Defended a medical device company in multiple product liability cases
  • Defended a hotel company in a food poisoning class action

Pro Bono Experience

Mr. Leckerman maintains an active pro bono practice. He spends considerable time representing asylum applicants and supervising junior lawyers in asylum proceedings, and leads the asylum practice group. He has represented clients pro bono in many other areas, and has focused on expanding the protections of property owners facing civil forfeiture claims. Mr. Leckerman also participated in advising the committee responsible for creating the Ethics Commission of the City of Philadelphia.
