Our experience includes these matters:

  • We represented a large Nevada gaming company in obtaining zoning approvals necessary for entitlement of a project involving construction of a $675 million hotel/casino on more than 40 acres in Aliente, an upscale, master planned community in North Las Vegas. We coordinated compliance with the requirements of numerous public agencies and helped win the support of neighborhood groups. The project required a new freeway interchange and a regional flood control system.

  • Our team represented the University of Pennsylvania on land-use matters and planning and historic due diligence when the university acquired a U.S. Postal Service hub in Center City Philadelphia. Because the postal facility had been federal property, the firm advised on the land-use, zoning, building, and other municipal implications of obtaining property containing improvements outside of local municipal regulations.

  • We represented a large commercial developer in the largest public-private partnership project in Nevada. Our representation began with a contentious RFP process and a series of public hearings to construct a large, commercial complex on 75 acres of vacant land adjacent to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. The project has 100,000 square feet of retail space, including two big-box anchor tenants, 50 additional retail stores and restaurants, 700,000 square feet of office space, and a recreational facility. We helped our client with complex issues relating to public contracting, union relations, and neighborhood compatibility.

  • Thomas Jefferson University hired our team to obtain City of Philadelphia approvals (Department of Licenses & Inspections, Zoning Board of Adjustment, City Planning Commission, Arts Commission, Streets Department, City Council, Fairmount Park Commission, and Historical Commission) for the exterior site improvements component of Jefferson’s 10-year master plan.

  • We negotiated, drafted, and obtained approval for a new zoning ordinance in Wasatch County, Utah—the Resort Specially Planned Area Zone—for the planning and development of a mixed-use resort project to contain hotels, retail, residential, golf, and other resort improvements.

  • We represented the American Revolution Center in connection with drafting a Living History Overlay District to permit museum, conference center, hotel, and alternative development uses for land at Valley Forge National Park.
