Alan S. Petlak has a diverse practice. He is known for his work in real estate, securities, and consumer finance, among other areas. Mr. Petlak has litigated cases in state and federal courts in California and throughout the country.

In Mr. Petlak's mediation practice, Mr. Petlak mediates cases from a trial attorney's perspective. He works tirelessly to resolve disputes ranging from real estate, employment, securities and many other business related matters. Always prepared, Mr. Petlak utilizes problem-solving techniques learned from his over twenty years of litigating and trying cases.

  • Real Estate Related Experience: A former California Real Estate Broker, Mr. Petlak handles and mediates almost every type of real estate matter including those involving mixed-use facilities, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, shopping centers, and hotels. He has successfully resolved disputes involving joint ventures, purchase and sale agreements, real estate agency relationships and landlord/tenant commercial disputes.

  • Consumer Finance Experience: Mr. Petlak has extensive experience handling and mediating matters involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act, The Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Truth in Lending Act and other consumer finance matters.

  • Securities Litigation: Mr. Petlak has extensive experience in securities-related class action lawsuits under the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act, in arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (representing both Claimants and Respondents), and in regulatory matters brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

  • Employment and Business Related Litigation Matters: Mr. Petlak has a wide range of experience handling a variety of employment and business related matters from claims involving employment discrimination to those involving unfair business practices, breach of contract and fraud.
