Richard R. Goldberg is senior counsel in the Real Estate Department. His practice concentrates on real estate development, financing, leasing, and acquisition.

Mr. Goldberg has been counsel to hotel managers and lenders, as well as hotel owners. He has served as lender's counsel for the financing and refinancing of office buildings, apartment complexes, and shopping centers, including the largest mall in New Jersey. Another hallmark representation was his serving as counsel to the Loews Corporation in connection with the development and financing of the conversion of the historic PSFS office building in Philadelphia into a state-of-the-art hotel. Mr. Goldberg has also represented lenders in providing secured credit lines to real estate investment trusts with properties located in multiple states, and in mezzanine loans and complex preferred equity structures.

Before joining Ballard Spahr, Mr. Goldberg served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel of The Rouse Company for 23 years.

Pro Bono Experience

Mr. Goldberg is counsel to the Wood Turning Center in Philadelphia, a nationally recognized museum and exhibitor in wood arts and crafts. He also served as counsel to Philadelphia's Magic Garden, a showcase for mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar.
