Barbara A. Casey is a partner in the Real Estate Department and co-partner-in-charge of the Real Estate Development Group. She is also a member of the Planned Communities and Condominiums, Resort and Hotel, REITs, Transactional Finance, and Zoning and Land Use Groups as well as the Distressed Real Estate Initiative. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of real property acquisition, development, sales and leasing, and commercial lending. Ms. Casey represents numerous clients before local planning and zoning boards to obtain land-use approvals, variances, and other zoning approvals.

Ms. Casey represents clients in the registration and development of condominium and homeowners' association and time-share projects, including mixed-use projects. Additionally, she represents purchasers and sellers in large commercial transactions; negotiates acquisition and development contracts, including construction contracts; negotiates commercial leases for tenants and landlords; and represents lenders and borrowers in large commercial loan transactions.

Between 1997 and 2001, Ms. Casey acted as Solicitor for Voorhees Township in Camden County, New Jersey.

Pro Bono Experience

Ms. Casey has represented ECO Charter School in Camden, New Jersey, in obtaining facilities for this new environment-based elementary charter school. She also represented Urban Promise Ministries in its efforts to provide a home through the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" program for a struggling family in Camden, New Jersey, and continues to represent Urban Promise Ministries in various land-use matters. She has previously worked on a pro-bono basis with the Borough of Fanwood, in Union County, New Jersey, in trying to develop the pilot transfer development rights program targeted to historic preservation.
