Philadelphia is the founding city of Ballard Spahr and is home to its largest office, with attorneys representing clients in litigation, business and finance, public finance, real estate, and intellectual property.

Our size ranks us as one of Philadelphia's largest law firms, and our representation of such iconic clients as the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Orchestra, DuPont, Comcast, and PNC Bank, along with major universities in the region, confirms our stature as one of the city's top law firms.

Two of our practices – Real Estate and Litigation – have been ranked the best in Pennsylvania for their areas of law by The Legal Intelligencer, America's oldest daily law journal. Nationally, our attorneys represent major financial institutions, developers, investors, and leading companies in the pharmaceutical, cable, chemical, manufacturing, and waste and environmental services industries, and represent clients in more than 50 practice areas.

At Ballard Spahr, we believe our clients are best served by innovative solutions that spring from varied viewpoints and perspectives. And we are committed to creating a vibrant community where people of all backgrounds can thrive. Attorneys and staff in Philadelphia provide financial and service support to many worthy causes, most notably a program that brings elementary school students to our office each week for one-on-one reading help. In partnership with the National Constitution Center, we support a landmark pipeline program at Constitution High School, a Philadelphia school for students interested in civics and careers in law. We also support young adults who work with City Year, an education-focused national service organization.

Pro bono service is a hallmark of the firm, and the Philadelphia attorneys devote thousands of hours to pro bono cases every year, including the national Clemency Project, which works to reduce sentences for inmates serving excessive time. Our attorneys also play an active role in the region's business and civic life, serving in leadership positions with numerous organizations throughout Greater Philadelphia.
