The Philadelphia Lawyer highlights Sapna K. Anderson's representation of a man from Mauritania who sought assistance when a coup in his homeland threatened him and his family. The assistant to Mauritania's ambassador to the United States, Louis found himself targeted by his country's new government when it sought to find the ambassador, who'd gone into hiding following the coup. Ms. Anderson helped Louis obtain asylum from the U.S. government. He plans to pursue the same for his wife and three young children. "It was a case that involved life and death circumstances," says Ms. Anderson. "Pro bono work is not something [attorneys] should do. It's something we have to do."
