• Each June, Ballard celebrates the graduation of the senior class of Constitution High School for American Studies and presents the Diversity = Excellence Scholarship to a student interested in pursuing a career in law. The 2011-2012 school year marks the sixth year of Ballard’s groundbreaking pipeline partnership with the Philadelphia School District, the National Constitution Center, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History to sponsor this magnet school whose students—80 percent minority—are interested in civics, history, and law. Two of our partners serve on the school advisory board, and many other lawyers and staff provide mentoring, mock trial coaching, career counseling, summer internships, financial support, and other curricular and extracurricular support. In addition, Ballard supported the construction of a mock trial courtroom at Constitution High.

  • Our lawyers hold various leadership positions in bar organizations, including minority bar associations. One partner is the President of the South Asian Bar Association of Delaware. One of our female associates serves on the Board of Women Lawyers of Utah, and another female associate serves as the past President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania and Secretary of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania Legal Education Fund. Another one of our associates serves on the board of GALLOP (Gay and Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia).

  • In 2011, two of our partners were honored at the Pennsylvania Diversity and Leadership Conference sponsored by the National Diversity Council.

  • Attorneys and staff contribute annually to United Way, which channels money to worthy community organizations.
